Interviewer: Okay, sweet. So yeah, the form and everything kind of gave a little rundown of what’s [yeah] going on. Um, but just to kind of like, summarize. Um, basically, the goal is I just need like audio of you talking.

Participant: Okay, okay.

I: So [sounds good] yeah, so like, I have questions and stuff to ask, like, you don’t have to feel like you have to ask them back or anything like

P: Okay, okay.

I: So-

P: All right. sounds good.

I: Yeah. All right. You ready to get started?

P: Yes, ma’am.

I: Do you have any questions?

P: Nope.

I: Okay. Sweet. Perfect. Um, so my first question is, what was one of your favorite places growing up and what did you like to do there?

P: Uh, one of my favorite places is probably Old [01:00] Mesilla. Um, just a lot of the, like, events that they have going on, like, all throughout the week most of the time, just any kind of event happening in Old Mesilla is always my favorite.

I: Mm hmm. It’s super fun.

P: Yeah, it’s so pretty down in Old Mesilla too. Very home, hometown vibes.

I: Mm hmm. Like at the plaza? Or just like…

P: Yeah, like the plaza down by, like anywhere in Old Mesilla, like downtown, anywhere.

I: Mm hmm. No, yeah, it’s so pretty there. Do you go for the luminarias and everything?

P: Yeah, most of the time like when the mariachis are playing like dude That’s my favorite time to go because you get everyone dancing on the stages and everything so yeah, that’s probably one of my favorite times seeing everyone dance and everything like that.

I: Mm hmm. Did you take like prom pictures homecoming pictures there?

P: No, I wanted to but I d- graduated during COVID. So, I was just like, screw it.

I: Yeah, no, I get that. Um. So my next question is, what are your s- what are some of your favorite things about Las Cruces?

P: Um, the [02:00] sunsets, of course. [Mhm.] Top of the list, for sure. The weather, very, he- he- uh he- he-, what am I trying to say? [(laughs)] Hectic, chaotic, there it goes. (laughs) Very chaotic, but very nice weather most of the time.

I: Mhm. I ag–

P: It’s been getting a little cold lately, but most of the time we don’t have to worry about that.

I: Mmhm. Like, even on Christmas it would be like forty.

P: Yeah, I think it snowed like one Christmas three years ago maybe.

I: Yep. (laughs) Yep. Um, what was your favorite family vacation that you went on?

P: Uh, family vacation. Uh, me and my family went to Schlitterbahn. I don’t know if you know what that is, but it’s like, it’s uh, I think one of the second largest water parks in the world. And it’s in San Antonio, so that was pretty cool.

I: Dang, that’s fun.

P: I got to swim with fish, like live fish there. They had like a pool that was like twelve, I think it was like twelve hundred feet deep. And they had like a whole bunch of big fish and uh, turtles and sh- [03:00] like things that you could swim with in the water. It was pretty cool.

I: Oh wow. When, when was this?

P: Uh, probably like 2014, 2016, somewhere in between there.

I: That’s fun! Oh my goodness. How long did you guys stay there for?

P: Uh, we were there for about a week. We ended up staying in one of the tree houses that they have that you can stay in there. Yeah, it was so cool. It was one of my favorite, favorite family vacations.

I: That sounds so fun. Oh my goodness. I love that. Like, was it like, like a tree house, like actually like in a tree?

P: Um, no, it was more of like um, like a really tall house.

I: (lauhgs) Okay.

P: (laughs) Yeah.

I: That’s still fun.

P: Yeah, it was pretty fun.

I: Mm hmm. Um, let’s see, what are some things you want to accomplish in the next like five years? Like this could be like career wise fitness, [04:00] social life, like literally just anything like you know, you want to get a tattoo or something like that.

P: Okay. Um, in the next five years, I want to finish school. A hundred percent want to finish school. Um, I want to get out of fast food, get into a job that is like an actual career. Get on a career path for sure. Um, I want to fill my arms up with tattoos. I want to get some sleeves. Um, I want to get back into soccer. I miss playing soccer. So hopefully with going back to school, that would be easier.

I: Mm hmm. You could do intramurals and stuff.

P: yeah. But just staying active for sure.

I: Mm hmm. That’s good. Where do you work now?

P: Right now, I’m a manager at the Burger King, um, on North Main, and I’m also a manager at the Taco Bell on El Paseo.

I: Oh, wait, so you’re doing a two jobs right now.

P: I’m busy, busy, yeah. Trying to get that bag up. (lauhgs)

I: Yeah. (laughs) [For real.] How do you like them?

P: I like it. I like managing. It’s probably one of my, one [05:00] of, like, my favorite things that I’ve ever done.

I: Mm hmm. Better than Whataburger?

P: Yeah, it’s better than just being a cook, for sure. But yeah, managing is very fun. I like, uh, managing people.

I: Yeah. Do you just like telling them what to do, or?

P: No, I like, I like the learning how everybody learns and figuring out how to make everyone work together well, ‘cause that’s hard to do. Like, not a lot of people work well together. (laughs) Mainly, most people don’t, and you have to figure out what they’re good at to make sure that they do work well together, which I think is fun.

I: That’s good. I love that. Oh, goodness. Um, you talked about like going back to school, um, what do you want to like major in and everything, do you know?

P: Um, well I graduated from Arrowhead with my associates of science, so probably something with that, maybe engineering, something with um, something like scientific for sure, I feel like I’d want to go into.  [[06:00] Yeah.] Maybe like, I don’t know, building cars or something. I feel like that would be cool. Or like plane parts.

I: Do you like just kinda like working with your hands more?

P: Yeah, a hundred percent. I’m more of a like, get my hands dirty type of person.

I: Mm hmm. No yeah. I, I could, I could see you being like, a mechanic or like something like that.

P: I do. The mechanic would be so cool. Like working on bikes. Oh, a bike mechanic would be so cool. Yeah. That would be dope.

I: No. Yeah. Do you have a bike or?

P: Uh, I don’t. I want one. I have a truck and I work on it all the time, but,

I: Mmhm. Dang.

P: But I want a bike so bad.

I: Yeah. No, that’d be so cool. Um, what’s your favorite way to spend a day off? Like, it sounds like you’re busy, you probably don’t get a lot of those, but

P: No. A day off when I have my days off, I be watching a lot of Tv. [07:00] I like to hang out with friends most of the time. Which is kind of hard sometimes because like when you’re when you’re on your days off you want to relax. But I like to keep myself busy so I like hanging out with friends and getting that social time in for sure making sure that I still stay like present and what’s happening in my life

I: Mm hmm. That’s good. What do you guys like to do?

P: Most of the time we just be playing video games, watching TV, just hanging out with each other. We don’t really do nothing fun. There’s not much to do around here. [(laughs)] Yeah.

I: Yeah. What kind of games do you guys like to play?

P: Um, we play UFC a lot. We fightin a lot over UFC. We be playin Mortal Kombat. That one’s always a good one. Um, I know the new Spider Man game just came out, so I think a couple of my homies are playing that. GTA is always a good one.

I: Mm hmm. Aren’t they like finally making a new one soon?

P: For the [08:00] GTA?

I: Yeah.

P: Yeah, they should be hopefully and hopefully it has all the upgrades that the other the last one did because they waited until like years after they put it out to put any of the upgrades in. So hopefully.

I: Dang. Oh, my camera’s being weird. Okay. Well, that’s fine. It just turned off. It’s okay. I’m still here.

P: Oh, I forgot you played soccer, too.

I: I did, yes.

P: I forgot.

I: Yeah, no, it totally, like, messed me up, so I haven’t played in a while.

P: Oh, really? You got hurt from it?

I: Yeah, dude, my ankles are shot.

P: Yeah, my knees are pretty much done, dude.

I: Mm hmm. You used to play for-  [I dislocated my knee.] Yeah. You used to play for Andy Barber, right?

P: No, I well I used to yeah, but I don’t anymore. I’d be practicing with him every now and then but,

I: Mm hmm. Yeah. But I still see him most of the time.

I: Yeah, do you still play at all or no?

P: Not [09:00] really, honestly ever since COVID happened like COVID ruined everything dude. I stopped. I lost- I stopped working at fucking, or uh I stopped working a lot of fast food for a little bit. I stopped going to school like I was doing nothing for a while. And then I just went back to work.

I: Mm hmm. Yeah, Covid was rough for sure.

P: Yeah. Tryna go back to school, get back into soccer.

I: Mm hmm. Yeah. Uh, let’s see. Next question is what’s your favorite time of year? And like, why?

P: Time of year. I like fall because I’m not really like a cold person or a hot person. I’m very indifferent to both. So I think fall is a good one because like there’s days where you can wear like a short sleeve. Especially here in Cruces where you could just wear a short sleeve or it’s like raining the night before and it’s kind of cold the day of. [10:00]

I: Mm hmm.

P: So, I think fall, fall or spring for sure. My favorite.

I: Yeah, just those nice, nice more cooler months.

P: Yeah.

I: Mm hmm.

P: Where’s it’s like-

I: Hmm?

P: Oh, I was gonna just say where it’s not so hot, where it’s like over eighty every day.

I: Oh, yeah. Um, do you have any like good memories and stuff around like fall and spring or?

P: Um, honestly just soccer. Like that was probably my favorite time just was, also because I stopped playing or I stopped going to school so much and I had more time to play soccer. That’s when tournaments happened for soccer so.

I: Mm hmm.

P: It makes me want to be active, makes me want to get out more.

I: Yeah. Especially like go out running and like just be out [Yeah.] in the air.

P: And they’re, they’ve been doing a really good job, I feel like, around town making it look really pretty, like, with all the artwork and everything. [Mhm.] That even being out now is nicer than it used to be.

I: Yeah, for sure. It’s pretty.

P: Yeah.

I: [11:00] Um, are there like, any sort of like, things you would change about, like, Las Cruces if you could?

P: The homeless population, a hundred percent. Our homeless population is insane, dude.

I: It is.

P: It’s crazy. Like I went to, I went to Dallas a couple weeks ago, and I was so shocked. There was like nobody sleeping on the ground outside, like nobody walking the streets, and I was like, where is everybody?

I: Really?

P: Yeah, and then coming into town, like it was, it was so shocking to see like how many people were already just coming into town, were already like on the side of the highway, even just the highway.

I: Mm hmm. Yeah, [so yeah,]

P: Definitely our homeless, homeless population.

I: Yeah, have you been to like Tent City and seen all that?

P: Yeah, yeah, I be freaking giving them, I be giving dog food and duct tape to them all the time.

I: Duct tape?

P: Duct tape and dog food, yeah.

I: Why duct tape?

P: Because [12:00] a lot of the times they’ll don’t- because I’ve even talked to them and like sat there and talked to the people who run it, talked to some of the people who live there, a lot of the time they don’t want new tents. They want to fix the shit that they already have, you know what I mean? [Mmm.] So they ask for duct tape, dog food and water is one of the like top five things on their list when they ask you like, when you’re like, hey, what could I bring? They ask dog food, duct tape and water.

I: Oh, wow.

P: Yeah, so, which I think is crazy ‘cause, I don’t know, but it’s probably easier to give everybody duct tape than just a couple people a new tent. You know what I mean?

I: No, yeah, I agree. Um, let’s see. What is, like, a topic that you could talk, like, forever about? Like, if somebody asked you about it, you could just go on and on.

P: Oh god, I don’t know. (laughs) My job? I don’t know. I be working a lot. (laughs)

I: Yeah? (laughs)

P: I could talk about my job for quite a while.

I: Yeah? [13:00]

P: Yeah. I like my job [like just like-]

I: -all like the tea or just like?

P: No, I mean, honestly, I’m thinking about leaving Taco Bell just because of all the drama that’s happening there [Mmm.] like there’s a lot of he said she said going on and then a lot of like pointing the fingers, you know what I mean, and like they’re expecting us to like I don’t know, do well, but they don’t want to have anybody help each other, so.

I: Yeah, and like you’re manager so you have to to deal with it.

P: Yeah, so I have to deal with like the backlash from everybody, even the employees, the other managers, like all of it. [Mmm.] I’m thinking about going uh to Burger King full time instead of just doing both part time.

I: Mm hmm.

P: And then I’ll be transferring between all three of the Burger Kings here in town. And I’ll be like helping them out.

I: That’s cool.

P:Yeah, it’s gonna be, I think, tiring. Everyone’s like, are you sure you wanna, you wanna be driving back and [14:00] forth around town? But I think it’ll be cool to be able to work with different people.

I: Mhmm, yeah. Just get that kind of like change of pace and everything.

P: Yeah, cause I’m always at like my home store all the time, so. And I feel like I’m always just in the kitchen.

I: Mm hmm. Yeah, this time you can, like, actually feel like a manager.

P: Yeah, instead of just a cook, yeah. I feel like a cook a lot of the time.

I: Oh, dang.

P: But that’s alright, it’s alright. We make things run.

I: Yeah, you’re doing it.

P: Mm hmm. And today I had to tell him, I was like, I gotta go exactly at five. They’re like, why? I was like, “I gotta go”.

I: Oh, yeah?

P: I got some because I stay like hours after. I stay like an hour and a half, two hours every day, I stay for them.

I: Dangg. That’s committed right there.

P: Yeah, it’s a little easier when you’re not working full time and you’re only working part time because then they have the hours to like give you.

I: Yeah, they’re like, oh yeah, like stay.

P: Yeah, but I think that’s why they [15:00] want to make me full time transferring ‘cause it’ll give me more hours too.

I: No, yeah, for sure. Um, let’s see. Are you, are you still with your boyfriend?

P: I am not.

I: Yeah?

P: No, I’m not. Um, I don’t think we get down. We haven’t been together since, I think, almost a year now.

I: Oh, wow. [Yeah.] Are you like seeing anyone else?

P: Well, I did have a little fling going on with this girl, but… that crumbled to the ground, broke in on itself, exploded, caught on fire, ran away. (laughs)

I: (laughs) Oh my goodness. But, um, right now, I am… I have a I guess he’s my boyfriend. Yeah, I guess you’ll call him my boyfriend. [16:00]

I: Yeah?

P: Um. But I think we’ve been dating for about four months now.

I: Oh, that’s nice.

P: But I’ve known him since uh probably elementary school. So,

I: Oh, wow.

P: Yeah.

I: Yeah. When did you guys like start dating?

P: Um, April of this month.

I: Yeah.

P: Yeah, April of this month. But he was like- it it was my fault that we didn’t start dating sooner I fuc- I like brushed him off. I told him no so many times [(laughs)] like I was like, no, no. I just told him like nah, I’m into girls now. I’m into girls now. He’s like please please.

I: Oh my goodness, I love it.

P: I think it took him like a year to convince me to say yes. (lughs) Yeah. I think like right as soon as I broke up with my other boyfriend, he was like on it bro. He was like fucking.

I: He’s like finally.

P: Nah he’s like “so..”.

I: Oh[17:00] my goodness.

P: Hopefully we’re going to be moving out soon.

I: Yeah?

P: Yeah, hopefully. We’ve been working a lot and I feel like, we’ve known each other for. Like ten, ten years now, nine or ten years. So I feel like coming into our relationship it’s been a little weird cause like we’ve already known each other for so long but I don’t know. I’m excited, very nervous, but excited to move out.

I: Yeah. That that’ll be fun, I think

P: I think it’ll be fun, hopefully.

I: Yeah, you get to figure out all the little things that drive you crazy. (laughs)

P: Yeah, all the, like, how he was raised differently, how he does dishes, how he puts the food away.

I: Yeah, exactly.

P: I need to, I need to freaking, um, get my driver’s license ‘cause it just expired,

I: Mhmm.

P: but I let it expire so now I [18:00] have to wait and, like, redo everything. I have to get my DWI test, my, my, uh, road test, my written test, I have to do all of it again. (

I: Aw, no.

P: Yeah.

I: Yeah, see, at least in, like, Las Cruces, like, you don’t really need to go to, like, driver’s ed, it’s like, you can just show up and take the test and stuff.

P: Yeah, they’re like, yeah, you’re over 18, sure.

I: Yeah, exactly.

P: Yeah.

I: What’s one more crazy driver.

P: No, I didn’t know, I didn’t know that you needed a driver’s license, like, in a different state. Like, if you moved, you need to get a license in that state. [Mhm] I didn’t know that. I thought they were, like, universal or whatever.

I: I know. Yeah, it’s like, if one state thinks I’m good enough to drive, why can’t I drive here too?

P: Right, right. It doesn’t make sense to me. Drivin through Texas (makes car sound effect).

I: Yeah, exactly.

P: [19:00] Driving through Texas scares me. I get so scared driving through Texas.

I: Really? Why?

P: Because I feel like I don’t know everyone’s driving so fast and I know like I’m more of a danger to everybody on the road because they’re used to driving in traffic like this and I’m not. So I’m just like it makes me scared.

I: Yeah, especially in El Paso.

P: Yeah, like coming into Cruces from El Paso that little area right there. Terrible dude.

I: Yeah, especially when there’s construction.

P: Mhm

I: Everyone flies through.

P: I know. And it’s like they never finish the construction, dude. (laughs) They’re so just sitting there. (laughs) I can’t. They’re still doing construction. [They get paid by the barrel.]

I: They what?

P: They get paid by the barrel. Not by the day.

P: For real. (laughs)

I: It’s just like they get paid by each barrel they have out. [20:00]

P: No, for real. They just add one every day, dude fu.

I: Yep. Oh my goodness. Um, so my next question is. What do you do when someone walks up to you and, like, starts speaking Spanish? Like, at work, or?

P: Um, I can understand a lot of Spanish. So, most of the time, um, I just try and, I tell them, like, to slow down, because most of the time they talk really fast. [Mmhm]. But, uh, my grandma spoke Spanish to me my whole life. So, I can’t speak it very well. I mean, I’m sure if I, if I needed to, I could. And most of the time at work when I’m taking orders and there’s nobody else that can, like, I do my best to take an order and I can take the order. Like, I get it done. But, um, just takes me a minute to understand what they’re saying.

I: Mhm. That’s cool.

P: I know. I wish I could speak Spanish.

I: Yeah, I mean Do you want to, like, take classes for that in, like, college and stuff?

P: Probably. I, I tried taking [21:00] Spanish classes in high school, and it just was not it. I was not learning anything.

I: Yeah, I get that. Uh yeah. But that’s cool that your grandma raised you, like, speaking Spanish.

P: Yeah, my, uh, grandparents used to go to Mexico all the time, and I remember, uh, my grandma said that when I got older, she would take me, but it never happened.

I: Yeah? Man. Are they from Mexico, or did they just visit a lot?

P: Uh, no, they’re from- my grandma and my grandpa are from Santa Fe, and my other side of my family, my grandma and grandpa are from California, but my grandma is, was raised, like, raised Mexican, like hardcore Mexican. My dad was raised fucking, like, Mexican as hell. So, but my mom was, uh, she was the one who, ‘cause I remember in elementary school me and my sister were in the bilingual classes from [22:00] first through second grade.

I: Mm hmm.

P: And then they took us out of those classes. My mom, she had taken us out of those classes and put us into the regular classes, like the, just the English speaking one.

I: Mm, got you.

P: Yeah, so I probably would have known Spanish, but.

I: Probably. (laughs) Oh, let’s see. Do you have any pets?

P: I do. I have a, uh, German Shepherd Lab Mix. Her name is Simmons. She’s very big. She’s like 120 pounds. She’s very big.

I: Oh my goodness.

P: And then I have a cat. His name is, uh, Barry. And then I don’t know what kind of cat he is. It’s just a cat. (laughs) Yeah.

I: It’s just like, oh, what kind of cat do you have? Orange? I think?

P: An orange one, yeah. A brown one.

I: Yeah. That’s fun. When did you get them? [23:00]

P: Um, my dog I got from this lady in Deming. When I was like thirteen, I think?

I: Mm hmm.

P: Yeah. So my dog’s pretty old. My cat I got about a year and a half ago on my birthday. Well, I got it for a birthday gift. My sister was, the place she was living at, up, uh, off Holman, had cats just running around all the time, so she just picked one up and gave it to me.

I: She just grabbed one.

P: Well, it was a kitten. It was a little tiny kitten.

I: Oh, that’s so cute.

P: Yeah. It was, I think, my dog and my cat were both two weeks old when I got them.

I: Mm hmm. Aw so they were babies.

P: I’ve had them since they were one.

I: Yeah. Are you trying to take them with you when you move?

P: Oh yeah, a hundred percent. They’re not going- I’m not going anywhere without them. And my dog I have registered as a service animal, so.

I: Nice, that’s the way to go. Yeah.

P: Makes it easier, [24:00] a hundred percent.

I: Mhm. For sure. You and your sister are twins, right?

P: Yeah.

I: Yeah. How’s that? Like growing up with a twin.

P: Um, it’s nice. She is not, she doesn’t live in town anymore, which is kind of hard. I don’t really see her a lot, but she’s, she’s working. She’s, uh, working in California right now. She’s working at the like resorts. So during the winter, she works on the ski resorts and she like skis up and down the mountain patrolling to see if like anybody got lost or anything like that.

I: Oh, wow.

P: And then during the winter, they go to or during the summer, they go to Yellowstone, and they walk the National Park to see if anybody got lost.

I: Oh, wow. Cool.

P: Yeah. She’s busy, busy, but I don’t get to see her a lot. I miss her.

I: Yeah, I bet. Why’d she pick California? Do you know?

P: Huh?

I: Why’d she pick California? Do you know? [25:00]

P: Um, no, I think that’s the company that she just chose to go with and they were in California.

I: Okay, that’s cool [Yeah.]

P: Yeah, but my other two sisters, my other two sisters are in town.

I: That’s nice.

P: My other one just moved back into town So,

I: Yeah, are they older or younger or both?

P: Um. I have one older sister and then I have two younger sisters. I’m older than my twin sister by like 10 minutes. (haha) But we’re born at the break of midnight, so we have different birthdays.

I: Dang.

P: Yeah, so I’m born on the eighteenth at like eleven fifty-eight. She’s born on the nineteenth at like twelve o two.

I: Oh. Yeah. So that’s nice, you get separate birthdays.

P: Yeah, but I feel like that’s the whole point of having a twin, though, being able to share a birthday.

I: Yeah, I feel like that.

P: Yeah, but, yeah, it’s pretty cool.

I: Anything else? Just sisters?

P: Yeah, no brothers, just sisters. [26:00] Growing up with a whole bunch of sisters. (I: Mm hmm.) I had a lot of, we’re the only, um, girl cousins, though, so we’re a lot of guy cousins.

I: Oh, wow. Yeah. That’s fun. (laughs) I know. (Unintelligible)

P: Huh?

I: Do you have a lot of cousins?

P: Yeah, I think I have like fourteen or fifteen of them.

I: Wow. That’s crazy.

P: I feel like, it’s not a lot. I feel like, I don’t know, I feel like I have so much family, that like fifteen cousins, that’s nothing.

I: That’s wild. Um. What’s the last movie you watched and like, how was it?

P: Um, the last movie I watched, I think it was the new Spider Man movie.

I: Yeah?

P: Yeah, I think it was the new Spider Man movie and it was pretty good. I liked it. I went for My Boyfriend’s Birthday, which was [27:00] really nice. (Unintelligible) Yeah, I think that was the last movie I watched.

I: Yeah, did you like it?

P: I liked it, yeah. It was, I liked the last one better. I liked, um… I think the last movie before that was Endgame to come out. I liked that one. Or the Doctor Strange movie. I thought that one was better.

I: Yeah. Dr. Strange was pretty good.

P: You know, since Stanley died, all the Marvel movies are just like going downhill.

I: They are! I think Disney’s kind of messing it up too.

P: Yeah, I think Disney’s taking on too many, too many different characters at once.

I: Mhm. Have you seen any of their shows?

P: No, I know Disney just came out with a movie called The Elementals. I want to see that so bad. [28:00]

I: That’s like, that’s like the little cartoon one. With like the little glowy guys.

P: I’m sorry, I did not hear you.

I: Oh, sorry. That’s like the cartoon one with the little glowy guys, right?

P: Yeah, with like the fire and the the ice, yeah. I’ve seen that one on TikTok a lot. I want to watch it.

I: Yeah, it looks cute, honestly. Did you grow up watching like Disney movies?

P: Yeah, my family was like a whole bunch of nerds growing up. So we watched like a whole bunch of Disney movies, Marvel movies, like DC, all of them. Except Star Wars. We never watch Star Wars. I don’t know why my family never watched Star Wars.

I: Really?

P: Or Harry Potter. Yes! We always watch like, Lord of the Rings, uh, like, stuff like the Hobbit, that stuff. Never Star Wars or Harry Potter. And I [29:00] get so much hate for that. Everyone’s like, what?

I: Have you like, gone back and watched those movies?

P: No, I need to. I need to though. I think Harry Potter is top of my list. I want to watch that first.

I: Yeah, Harry Potter is good. Especially like, the first one just feels like a Christmas movie to me.

P: Okay, okay.

I: Yeah.

P: I think they’re very similar to like the Lord of the Rings movies in the way that they’re filmed.

I: Mm hmm.

P:So, I think I’ll like it.

I: Yeah, for sure. What’s your favorite holiday?

P: Holiday? I like, I like Christmas. Christmas is a good holiday. And like, Halloween’s always a good one.

I: What does your family normally do for Christmas?

P: [30:00] For Christmas we usually just be for so for like the like holiday seasons we’ll have Thanksgiving at one of my my aunt’s and uncle’s house and then we’ll have Christmas either like here at my house or like at another aunt and uncle’s house so, just going to each other’s houses but I think this year we’re going to be doing more of like a friendsgiving thing because everyone’s moved out of town and everything.

I: That’ll be fun. Do you have any [yeah hopefully] Halloween plans?

P: I’m thinking I think we’re going to be Mr. and Mrs. Incredible. Or I want to be Killer Frost. I don’t know if you know who that is.

I: I think I do.

P: Yeah. And the Flash. My cat’s named after the Flash, his name is Barry Allen

I: I love that.

P: Yeah, so. Either (unintelligible) The Flash or probably The Incredibles is what we’re gonna do. [31:00]

I: mm hmm. That’ll be fun.

P: And then probably just hang out with friends.

I: Yeah,

P: I think last year I think I went trick or treating last year, but I think last year was pushing it. (laughs)

I: Yeah, it feels awkward trick or treating when you’re older. (laughs)

P: No, for real. It’s like not fun anymore. You’re nervous. You’re like, what if you kidnap me?

I: No, for sure. Um, okay, we got time for like one more question, because my zoom only lets

me have 40 minutes, which is whatever. Cause I don’t want to pay for it. Ummm. Let’s see. Okay, so if you started a band with your closest friends, what would its name be?

P: Ooh, [(laughs)] [32:00] ooh. Um… God, I’m trying to think of a good one.

I: It could just be whatever comes to mind.

P: Um, I’m gonna say roaches. The roaches. (laughs) The roaches.

I: Oh my goodness. What kind of music would you guys play?

P: We’d play rap and rock music.

I: Nice.

P: We’d play rap indie and rock.

I: (laughs) That’s good. Why the roaches?

P: That’s a good question.

I: Yeah.

P: Because my friends are menaces. If you [33:00] gave them a mic, they’d probably just

scream into it. Like if you gave them an instrument, they wouldn’t know what to do with it. God. A bunch of fools they are.

I: Oh my goodness. All right. Well, thank you so much for doing this.

P: Yeah, of course. I hope I can help you out with your project.

I: Yes, no, you did. Thank you so much.

P: Yeah, of course. Good luck with it, bro.

I: Thank you. And like, real quick to write it down. Um, you’re, you’re twenty-one, right?

P: I’m eighteen. Or I’m nineteen.

I: Wait, what? You’re nineteen?

P: Yeah.

I: And you graduated in 2020? Mhm. I graduated earlier at um [I graduated in 2020]

P: huh?

I: I graduated in 2020. And I’m twenty-one.

P: No, it’s because I graduated early with, uh, Arrowhead.

I: Oh my goodness.

P: And it’s an early college, so. [34:00] Why, you have to be twenty-one or what?

I: No, it’s just so that way we can write it down kind of anonymously, so.

P: Um you could do it anonymously.

I: What?

P: I said you could still write it down, it’s okay.

I: (laughs) Oh my goodness, but yeah, thank you so much.

P: Yeah, of course.
